Methodology

Sources

Every series names its source on its detail page. Current providers: Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED, including IMF primary commodity prices), the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the European Central Bank (ECB) reference exchange rates, UN Comtrade, the U.S. Census Bureau, and USAspending.

Refresh cadence

All sources ingest on a daily schedule between 06:00 and 07:15 UTC-consistent server time. A daily health sweep at 08:00 logs any series past its freshness threshold. Publication frequencies remain the provider's: exchange rates daily, most commodity prices monthly.

Status labels

Stale means no new observation within the expected window for that frequency (5 days daily, 14 weekly, 62 monthly, 450 annual). Partial means the current period is still running; change figures are suppressed. Revised means the provider restated the value after first publication.

Observation dates

Monthly series carry the month they measure, not a day: "Jul 2026" is the July monthly reading. Annual series show the reporting year. Daily and weekly series show the exact observation date.

Corrections

When a provider revises a value, the stored observation updates in place and the revision flag is recorded. No values are fabricated, interpolated, or estimated; missing data stays empty.
