Carbon Lockdown was founded by Dr. Ning Zeng in 2022 as a benefit corporation. Its mission is to develop and deploy cost-effective, scalable Wood Vault carbon removal and MRV technologies to benefit the climate, ecosystems, and rural communities. Wood Vaults bury sustainably sourced woody biomass underground in low-permeability soil, creating an anoxic environment that halts decomposition and provides durability of 1,000 years or more.
