Founded in 1967 in Richmond, Virginia by Dr. Walter A. Shaw, it moved to Pelham, Alabama in 1973, to Alabaster, Alabama in 1990, and was acquired by Croda International Plc. in 2020. The Avanti Research brand launched in 2024.
