Advanced Ceramic Fibers, LLC (ACF) was formed in 2012 by Dr. John Garnier after co-inventing the Direct Conversion Process at the Idaho National Labs. ACF is commercializing Fi-Bar™, a metal carbide/carbon-core fiber made through a patented one-step process that grows a nano-conversion layer of metal carbide into each carbon filament. ACF researches these fibers for ceramic and metal matrix composites in turbine engines, nuclear thermal propulsion, space travel, and stationary power.
